guitar orchestra

The Guitar Orchestra of the Setúbal International Music Festival is a project that brings together young guitarists from the region’s specialist music schools. Aiming to foster the artistic and technical development of its members, this project offers an enriching experience that combines learning, collaboration, and high-level performance.
The orchestra holds two annual training programmes, which are periods of intensive preparation and rehearsal, where musicians have the opportunity to work under the guidance of renowned conductors and guitarists. Its repertoire spans a wide range of styles, from classical music to contemporary arrangements, fully exploring the expressive possibilities of the guitar as an ensemble instrument.
The Guitar Orchestra’s performances, integrated into the Festival’s programme, mark the culmination of this rigorous work and showcase the dedication and talent of these young musicians. Through this project, the FIMS highlights and supports emerging guitarists, while also contributing to the enrichment of the local cultural and musical scene.
