Marco Santos
An artist, creator, composer and musician who has been active for over 20 years, his main instruments are drums and percussion. Over the past 17 years, he has been traveling between the Netherlands and Portugal, where he has worked regularly with several Portuguese artists or on his own projects. He has traveled the world giving workshops and concerts, collaborating with several artists: Sara Tavares, Lura, João Afonso, Luis Pastor, Doudou N’diaye Rose, Hary Sacksioni, Gilles Apap, Uxia Senlle, Rui Horta, Clara Andermatt, NDT (Nederland Dans Theater), among others, in the fields of music, dance and theater, approaching music from several different perspectives. At the same time, he has focused on his own compositions, releasing several albums of his own and in collaboration with other artists. These works have received public attention and have won several competitions and nominations in Jazz.
Through rhythm, movement and body percussion, he promotes the “Body” as the main instrument, providing training for musicians, dancers and actors. He is the founder of the United Art Movement based in the Netherlands, creating an annual event since 2015 with the main goal of promoting the union of various art forms on a single stage, and thus to praising art as the best tool to unify people.
He is also the founder of Companhia do Corpo – Pulsar, based in Lisbon, where he promotes the dialogue between music, dance and theatre with a single instrument – The Body.
